We are extremely proud of our Learning and Development pathways for both our front and back-of-house teams, as well as our Pub Support Team.
We prioritise the development of our people and have established highly acclaimed internal training programs.
Our programs have enabled many of our people to advance their careers, stepping up to positions of leadership and management within our organisation.
Award is our first step to developing our Team Members into Team Leaders.
We empower our Team Leaders with the knowledge, technical and practical skills to be able to run shifts in the absence of senior managers. From risk and compliance to customer engagement and social media, the workshops are supported by further training by their line managers back at site.
This programme is universally taught across all our managed formats, meaning our Team Leaders are fully equipped to lead if a cross-format move is requested/required.
The next step in our people’s development is Accolade, designed for Deputy Managers who either have the hunger and ability to progress to General Managers, or have the potential to become a high performing Deputy Manager as a long-term career.
This course is a blended learning experience with a mix of workshop learning and on the job training. Individuals will complete pre and post workshop tasks, skills assessment and project that entail leadership training, business, and succession planning, as well as finance coaching.
Accelerator is aimed at our Deputy Managers who are ready to take the next step of becoming a GM within the next 12 months.
This course is designed to last for 6 months and is regarded as our finishing programme, looking internally at aspects such as leading winning teams, strong sales strategies, and proactive business plans.
Candidates must plan and deliver a sales event which is presented to a panel of senior Operators and success coaches. They will then produce a professional business plan in preparation to apply to any live vacancies within the wider business.
Our pinnacle programme is Aspirations, specifically designed for our high performing General Managers with the potential to progress into an Area or Regional Manager role.
This 12-month programme is a holistic approach to the business through the eyes of a multi-unit leader. It aims to develop a strong talent bank of future Area and Regional Managers and internally develop our managers with the goal of appointing them to senior leadership positions within the company.
Delegates are given a real-world business project for 3 months in which they present to an executive panel and following a successful signoff, they are invited to a graduation ceremony.
One of our apprenticeship courses is our Evolution pathway for our fantastic kitchen teams. 5 courses, from Evolution 1 to 5, that take a Kitchen Team Member from their very first day in the business to Kitchen Manager, Area Chef or beyond!
Upon enrolling in Evolution 2, the kitchen team member will be paired with a Development Coach (DC) who organises monthly one-to-ones over the course of a year designed to coach them through the tasks based around kitchen operations, nutrition, allergens and working collaboratively, collecting evidence to demonstrate their complete understanding of the business.
Evolution 3 and 4 have been designed for prospective or current Kitchen Managers as well as our Area Chefs. They complete a number of different tasks around Leadership, People and Customers, as well as attend a number of workshops that support their practical training.
Finally, Evolution 5 is our final 14-month programme that teaches our KMs the leadership and skills required to be an exceptional Kitchen Manager or Area Chef. They will learn to understand different business development tools, such as resource management, project management and emotional intelligence, and how to use them within their own business.
The best bit about our apprenticeships? Our teams are taught real-life skills throughout their time on the programmes meaning they are able to implement everything they have learnt in their day-to-day lives within the business.
